    CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

The Chinese Lantern Festival this year falls on Tuesday, Feb. 19th. Traditionally, it indicates the end of the Chinese New Year Spring Festival period. This is celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month. It is the first full moon night, marking the return of spring and symbolizing the reunion of family. Chinese people will go out to look at the moon, send up flying lanterns, have a meal, and enjoy time together with family and friends. Also, a bowl of delicious glutinous rice balls called Tang Yuan 汤圆 or Yuan Xiao 元宵 is a must-have during the Chinese Lantern Festival. If you took Chinese classes in the past or are taking Chinese class currently, you are invited to  Ms. Wang’s classroom to celebrate this holiday during lunch and have a bowl of Tang Yuan next Tuesday. Happy Lantern Festival! Yuan Xiao Jie Kuaile! (Wang)
