Free Tutoring Services at Cal High

Math Club:

Our fantastic Math Club offers free tutoring for all students in all math levels. Please obtain a pass from your math teacher to attend tutorial in room 211 (Mrs. Saiki's class).

NHS:

National Honor Society students volunteer their time to tutor students who need extra support in any subject area. Come to room 211 every day during lunch OR after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays!

Welcome to Cal High's Counseling Department! We strive to produce high achieving learners who graduate college and career ready, well prepared to meet the challenges and high expectations of a diverse and changing world.

The Counseling Program at CHS seeks to positively impact the lives of all our students by partnering with staff, parents and community. All students participate in quality opportunities for self-directed personal growth through our Naviance program.

Our program offers comprehensive planning and guidance services addressing student academic, diverse career and college goals, as well as personal and social development.

What Counselors Do

Registration 2019-2020

Current students (grades 9-11) will being registering for their classes for next year (2019-2020) beginning on March 1. The online portal will be open March 1- March 8. Printed summary forms are due with a parent/guardian signuature to the counseling office no later than March 8. Anything received after that date will be stamped late. 

Course registration forms and instructions are available in the counseling office or on the Academic Planning page (see link under Quick Links at the top of this page).

Counselors will be meeting one-on-one with every student during the following weeks:

                                   9th grade: Week of March 25

                                  10th grade: Week of March 18

                                    11th grade: Week of April 8

Students will have the opportunity to make any corrections or changes at that time. If students or parents have questions about course planning, students should be prepared to ask those questions during their counselor session. Students may also drop in to see their counselor during brunch/lunch/before or after school for questions.

Student Appointments with Counselor:                                              Students may request an appointment with their counselor by signing up in the counseling office. Student drop in times are available during brunch, lunch, and/or after school.  

 

Parent Contact with Counselor:  
In order to be available for students, counselors cannot accommodate drop in appointments with parents. Please see the Counseling Directory to obtain contact information for your student's school counselor.
