State law gives families the option to transfer to a different school when there is space available. When schools have space, families can choose to transfer to another school within a district (intradistrict transfers) or to transfer to a school in another district (interdistrict transfers).

SRVUSD has moved up its intradistrict open enrollment window for elementary families. The open enrollment window for elementary schools is now open and closes on April 6, 2018. Families can find the link to the online intradistrict transfer request form and information about SRVUSD’s open enrollment/intradistrict transfer process at www.srvusd.net/transfers.

SRVUSD students will continue to have placement priority in our schools. However, after we place our resident students at their school of choice, because we now have space available, California law requires that we allow students from outside the district to apply to attend our schools (interdistrict transfers). Interdistrict transfers will only be accepted if there is space available. Students from outside the district must maintain acceptable academic performance, attendance and behavior. SRVUSD anticipates openings for interdistrict transfers students at nearly all SRVUSD schools.

Due to the state testing server being unavailable, the schedule has changed.  We will no longer be testing on Wednesday and Thursday (3/28 and 3/29.) We will revert to the REGULAR schedule for those days. We will complete the math portion of the training upon our return from spring break.  We will NOT adjust the schedule for that week.

In order to accommodate California State testing, we will have a modified schedule during these two weeks (March 19 - April 13.)  All 11th grade students will be participating in two English Language Arts tests and two Mathematics test. Testing will take place during the students’ English and History classes. The schedule, which will affect all students, is available by following this link.

Teen stress is an important health issue. The early teen years are often marked by physical, cognitive, and emotional changes. Teens are also dealing with changing relationships, demands at school, pressure to succeed in life, college concerns, family tensions, and crammed schedules. Many are not prepared to handle high levels of stress and over time this can lead to depression and anxiety.

Presentations by Discovery Counseling Center and Contra Costa Crisis Center.

They talk to many of our students on a regular basis and are in touch with the many demands our students are facing.

New Teen Driver Education Program to Emphasize Safety at San Ramon Valley Unified Schools

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District (SRVUSD) will implement a new system for students who wish to obtain on-campus parking permits that emphasizes traffic safety. Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, the SRVUSD in partnership with Street Smarts and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will sponsor free two hour CHP Start Smart classes. Students and their parent/guardian must attend one free two hour CHP Start Smart class in order to be eligible for a parking permit at all SRVUSD High Schools.

The Start Smart presentations provide an opportunity for teens and their parents/guardians to discuss the serious laws, obligations, responsibilities and family expectations that are part of driving a vehicle.  The goal is to promote and create safe driving habits around SRVUSD schools.

The Start Smart presentations will begin in the 2017-2018 year for parking pass eligibility in the 2018-19 school year. At this class, officers from the California Highway Patrol will discuss traffic avoidance techniques, collision causing factors, driver/parent responsibilities and seatbelt usage. All SRVUSD comprehensive high schools will offer 3-4 free classes each year that are open to anyone. The class must only be taken once during a student’s high school career.

Parent and Community Education on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 7:00 in the California High School Theatre

Suicide Prevention Presentation by Contra Costa Crisis Center

The mental health of our students is a top priority in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. According to the California Department of Education, 20 percent of the State’s kindergarten through 12th grade students struggle with mental health issues that impact their relationships at home, in school and in the community. Sometimes these feelings lead to students silently contemplating suicide.

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District has been a leader in providing suicide prevention education in our schools. These efforts have been reinforced with the passage of Assembly Bill 2246: Pupil Suicide Prevention Policies.

As part of the District’s education on mental health, there will be a Suicide Prevention Presentation on Monday, October 23 at 7 p.m. in the California High School Theater. The presentation is a general overview and introduction to suicide prevention where participants explore the issue of suicide, learn current suicide related statistics, how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, and how to get help.

For more information, visit the Contra Costa Crisis Center website.

Students,

The last day to drop a class without penalty is September 22nd. If you choose to drop before that date, you will have to find a teacher to aide for, you will not be able to enter any other course.  The class you dropped will not show up on your transcript.

After September 22nd, teachers have the option to give you a No Mark or an F and either of these will go on your transcript. Again, if you drop after September 22nd, you will need to find a teacher to aide for.

Please see your counselors now if you are considering dropping a class so you can get help on knowing your options.

Schedule Change Requests

  • Any schedule change requests must be submitted via the online form that will be available under the Counseling tab or getting a form in the Counseling Office beginning Friday, August 11th.
  • All forms need to be turned into the Counseling office for consideration. You can go to your Infinite Campus account to see if changes were made. If no change, that means your request could not be honored. We will not accept requests via email or phone.

We will not be meeting with students individually about their schedules, unless the counselor deems it necessary.

  • The only schedule changes made during the first week of school (August 14th – 18th) will be for the following reasons:
    • A required high school course is missing (e.g.: English is not on student’s schedule)
    • There is a hole in the student’s schedule (e.g.: Student does not have a course in period 2)
    • Incorrect level placement (e.g.: Student is enrolled in Spanish 3, but should be in Spanish 2)
    • Dropping an elective to go from a 7-period to a 6-period day.
  • You will be able to complete a Schedule Change Request Form for electives starting on August 21st.
