PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

August 31, 2010

I would like to welcome everyone to the 2010-11 school year.  I want to thank you for contributing the money required to maintain and establish new programs for our students and staff.  This is another example of what separates California High School from many schools in the state and across the nation.  We pledge as a staff to honor your commitment and make sure we continue to make prudent decisions and utilize our financial resources to provide the best programs for our students.

I would like to recognize all of the parents, students and staff members who volunteered during our two days of registration.  Parents and students worked at Booster Club tables, helped navigate our new parents through the paperwork maze, sold spirit wear, facilitated the ID card process and provided a warm and caring environment for our California High School community.

Please join me in welcoming our newest staff members:

Dave Kravitz            Social Studies/AD                 Irene Lucero            Spanish

Keith Philapil            Math                                         Lisa Wieland          Special Ed

Kathleen Seabury    Social Studies/Art                   Amber Marx            Special Ed

Jeff Martin                Tech Support                          Duff Danilovich        Asst. Prin.

Hollis Tong               School Resource Officer

Many of our staff members attended conferences, workshops and special training to prepare for the new school year.  A group of teachers and administrators attended the Health Educator’s Institute in Sacramento to work on our new grant requirements. Teachers attended Project Lead the Way training across the state and nation.  This group of teachers will be infusing their knowledge and training in our Engineering Academy and Biomedical Sciences Pathway.

Our construction continues to be a focal point on campus. The renovation of our old gymnasium is on schedule and is expected to open in March 2011.  New stadium synthetic turf was installed over the summer.  We will be installing solar panel car ports beginning in June.  During this project our parking lot will be re-designed and repaired to meet the needs of our students, staff and community.

We again encourage everyone to again utilize School Loop this year.  Email will be facilitated through the program along with assignments, and a variety of assessment reports.  Progress reports and quarter grades will be reported through this wonderful communication tool.  Semester grades will be mailed home.

On September 15th we will be hosting our Back to School Night.  During the evening staff members will be sharing their curriculum and programs with you.   An email will be sent to you with the logistics and times for this event.

If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions please contact our main office.  Our staff is always available to assist you and your student.

We look forward to another exciting year!

Go Grizzlies!
